Birthday Presents

Everybody - I do mean EVERYBODY - has a birthday in May. Like seriously.
Emily ... Cara ... my Mom ... Chris' Mom ...

Seriously. Everybody.

So you've seen the Hobo Bag for Emily (look here if you want.)
And now, here are some other gifties.

Mom's Table Runner (can be used as a wall hanging or stole or bed decoration). Sorry for the bad camera photo. Fabric is really pretty. Pale purple background. She liked it. I wanted to "quilt" some of the flower motifs, but my machine needs some serious servicing. The pale blue fabric is pretty thin. I decided to use a second layer as a "filler" to give it a bit more substance. The blue is used for the back and for two "framing" panels for the front with the flower print in the middle. Whole things is approximately 63" x 14".

Here is a Tote Bag for Chris' Mom. Blue denim outside with leaf motif print liner. Print also used for matching handles. I'm really pleased with how it turned out! I ditched the cotton webbing for the handles as it was really thick. So I made my own! Was really easy and looks a lot nicer! Bag measures approximately 14" x 14".

And here are some Fabric Boxes for Cara. This project didn't go as planned thanks to some bad advice at the fabric store. Wrong fusing recommended and a nice ruined piece of fabric followed. Ugh. HOWEVER I like how they turned out! The cardstock inserts in the bottom are really pretty and add a little "oomph".

Hope you've enjoyed seeing what I've been up to!
I have a BIG crochet project I've been working on. And have seriously underestimated how long it was going to take. And it is sooooo not going to be ready by when it should be. I'm still trying to decide how to handle it...

It SEAMS SEW Easy

Okay. I'll stop with the puns. (Yeah. Like THAT will happen...)

Anyway, I crafted up some more sewing goodness. More double-sided coasters! I did a couple sets in the purple for Mother's Day Gifts

... and the fun red and black ones were for a bridal shower! (Black on one side for the monochrome-lovin' man and splashy color on the other for the daring bride!)

Hobo-Baggins

"Hobo-Baggins"?? No more LOTR for me ...

Anyway, stitched up a hobo bag for my cousin Emily. It's only my second sewing project, but I still think it turned out okay. Forgot to do double hems on the opening edges. Oops. Still, it's cute and functional AND washable! Gotta love that! Since I got to see Em yesterday, I can post the pictures now.
